Choosing the Season: Riverside Property Management

Summer has come — shaping the mornings bright and the hours humid. The city is transformed from its once timid temperatures and gray horizons into a hot realization: the days are becoming longer and relief is hard to find. It’s been overwhelmed by the seasonal change; and all families are lamenting the loss of the cold (winter suddenly seems like a far better alternative to this unfortunate warmth).

All wish to escape the crowded concrete. All want to flee the unrelenting climate. And so… they do, with hotels gleefully anticipating their arrivals — and all Riverside property management shifting itself to accommodate the sudden flock of tourists.

It seems an easy idea to seek out vacations during the summer months. The weather demands play, not labor; and all want to devote themselves then to thrills. But this pattern — despite its appearance — is not a sensible one. It’s instead a demand for dollars and frustration.

With so many individuals trying to abandon their duties, hotels and other lodgings will suddenly increase their costs. Prices will rise; rooms will become scarce; and once simple holidays will suddenly shatter all budgets. Due to the inflation of tourists, all accommodations can refuse their usual bargains. They can instead require higher payments for the same services — and this leaves many families unable to afford all they want.

It is recommended therefore that individuals choose to take their vacations during the aptly named ‘off-seasons’. These months (typically from January to May and September to early November) represent the days when all attractions will be silent and all hotels will be scrounging for guests. There will be few families on the roads; and this offers the power to travelers then. Costs will be lessened and space will be made available.

Retreating from the summer is understandable. Maintaining your budget is essential, though. Plan well and avoid the hectic heat.

The Staycation Gets A Makeover

A staycation is an old trend that has increased in popularity because more people are watching their spending. In fact, the word was added to the 2009 edition of the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary. A staycation is the combination of staying home and experiencing a vacation, but there are a few ways to make it as memorable as visiting another city for a week. The typical staycation consists of relaxing in your home or leaving the home to see area attractions.

The danger of the typical staycation is that most people fall back into the routine of their everyday lives. If you want to save money but still want to feel like you are on vacation, there are a few ways to spice up your down time. One way to enhance your staycation is to pack your belongings and find a local hotel or bed and breakfast. Staying away from home may be a challenge but can help keep the pending cabin fever at bay.

A vacation is meant to be relaxing, and there are plenty of activities to help you do it. By avoiding your favorite local hot spots and opting for places you have never been makes the staycation more like a traditional vacation. Set an appointment with your local spa and treat yourself like you would if you were at a resort. During the summer months visiting the local pool, park, or museums can provide hours of entertainment and rejuvenate you for your return to work.

If checking into a local hotel is not for you, there is another option. Some families are taking advantage of companies that provide the cooking and cleaning while the family stays home. These companies create the illusion of being on vacation and staying in a hotel while never stepping foot out the front door. However you choose to spend your staycation, remember to relax and have fun.

Why You Should Travel To Chicago

There isn’t quite another city like Chicago. While it has been named the “Second City” it is anything but if you’ve ever spent any time there. If you have never had the honor and privilege of spending time in that great city perhaps you should think about it for your next vacation. There are many vacations that offer you fun in the sun, warm beaches, great culture, and the best entertainment in the world, but there are very few places that can offer you all of that at the same time, but Chicago can. So here’s a way to experience a uniquely Chicago vacation.

Hit the Beach – You can explore the gorgeous lake front of the Windy City. Head down to North Avenue beach and play a little volley ball or head down to Ohio Street and swim the half mile. If you have the means and the access you can head over to Monroe Harbor and spend a day on a boat. And if you’re looking for a little mid day lunch you are right next to the world famous Navy Pier so you can grab lunch at one of the many great restaurants inside.

Shop The Mile – This is a time honored tradition for men and women alike. There is no better shopping in the country than shopping on Michigan Avenue. With some of the biggest stores in the world there you can virtually get lost on shopping there. And with the many great local restaurants you can stick around for a one of kind dinner experience. And if you have time during the day you can make a special trip to the Chicago river and take a boat ride.

Sample All The Food – Chicago is known for quite a few things but nothing is more prideful to the people of the Windy City than the food there so while you’re in town head over to Mr. Beef for a sandwich or the Wiener Circle for a unique hot dog experience but regardless of what you want Chicago has it all.

The Slammin’ Salmon: Hilarious Restaurant Movie

If your answer to either of the following questions is yes, you are going to love the Slammin’ Salmon: 1. You work, or have worked, in the restaurant industry, or 2. You liked the movie Supertroopers. Created by Broken Lizard, the same people who made Supertroopers, Beerfest, and Club Dread, the Slammin’ Salmon is an irreverent comedy set in a popular Miami restaurant and focused on a contest among the waitstaff to see who can make the most money in one evening. It was released in the US at the end of 2009, but had a very limited theatrical release, and for all intents and purposes, it went straight to DVD. It is worth seeking out though, and if you have worked in the service industry, you will appreciate many of the characters’ frustrations.

Due to a mob debt, the owner of the Slammin’ Salmon restaurant (played by Michael Clarke Duncan) offers a contest to his waitstaff: whoever brings in the most revenue for the restaurant that evening will receive a $10,000 prize. The restaurant manager, Rich, whose duties normally include more mundane things like bookkeeping and ordering restaurant supplies, is forced to try to motivate the staff, many of whom are difficult to inspire. One of the movie’s funnier characters is Nuts – given that name by his co-workers in reference to his mental instability. Hilarity ensues when Nuts forgets to take his medication, due to daylight savings time, and becomes Zongo, his riotous alter ego. Another funny scene happens when Rich accidentally eats a customer’s diamond ring, which has been inserted into a brownie for a surprise wedding proposal. By the end of the movie, the viewer gains insight into what really goes on behind the scenes at a busy restaurant (exaggerated for comic effect, of course).

Alternative Vacations

It’s easy for people to get stuck in a rut. There are a million different reasons why you get bogged down. There are stresses of your job, family, and just the grind of life’s mundane details. However, there comes a time when you need to shake things up and one of the best ways to do that is to take a trip a bit out of the ordinary. So instead of visiting one of the beautiful states in the U.S, do something different.

It’s always a good time to plan a backpacking trip through Europe. Europe has one of the richest histories of any continent. You can see ancient architecture as well as modern amenities and buildings alike. Backpacking can also be relatively cheap. There is so much vacation information on the Internet. You can enter into chat rooms and discussion boards about places to visit for cheap and places where meals and lodging can be only a few dollars a day. This could be the perfect getaway you are looking for.

If you have the time and the finances, then renting one of the gorgeous Holiday Villas in Spain makes a great way to enjoy a vacation. There is nothing better than experiencing a vacation like those who live there amongst the culture every day. Villas allow you the freedom to shop at the local market and cook the authentic food of Spain without having to spend a fortune at a restaurant. It’s an experience that will trump the traditional vacation as the memories and stories you will have to tell will last you a lifetime.

And if all else fails you can always pack up the car and take a road trip across the United States. Just like the poets and writers of the Beat Generation did years ago, you can experience America from behind the wheel and give yourself a break from the rut.

Supply and Demand Plays a Key Role in Bond Pricing

Supply and demand

As with most things in our economy, the laws of supply and demand come into play when determining bond pricing numbers. Basically the more supply there is of an item the lower the cost because the holder of that item wants to sell it off. Conversely, if there is less of a product or more demand, the price goes up. This applies to bond pricing when it is determined that the value of that bond might be going up or down depending on market conditions. The price of a bond is usually set at either an open trading market or a bond auction.

The face value of a bond is called the par value. Sometimes a bond is sold for less than par value as a way of attracting potential investors. For instance if a bond’s par value is ten thousand dollars it might sell for nine thousand dollars. When the bond matures, that bond holder will get the full ten thousand dollars. Along the road to bond maturity, the bond holder could be receiving dividend payments which would be money earned on the interest of the par value of that bond. These are referred to in the money market world as coupon payments. The coupon payments become a big factor in bond pricing when it is determined that these payments can yield a significant amount of money over time.

Time is also an important factor in determining bond pricing. When you buy a bond, you’re doing so because you’re in for the long haul. Although there are exceptions to the rule, most bonds take several months if not years to reach full maturity and a complete payback of the investment. Faced with this, an investor has to decide if they are willing to part with their money for an extended period of time. All of that goes into bond pricing.
